I'm investigating- I'll get back to you. It's nothing I've put on it, that's for sure.

I'm not sure- is there a link on the site somewhere?

Noticed yesterday- on the side of a city bus, an ad about people linking their Metro Card to their bank account to pay for their subway/bus fares directly. The interesting thing- they didn't say "It's easier, it's faster" whatever- the ad said it was greener, since you don't get a new card every month- you just use the same one over and over. Very interesting seeing conservation being the main selling point, instead of a fringe benefit.

Callie, you are amazing at finding things I would never have known about. I went to blackle.com to see what the heck was a blackle.com and it's really neat. Here's the web link about blackle: http://blackle.com/about/ Thank you for sharing! I'll make the switch today.

Use blackle.com, instead of google.com!

That's a great tip, Callie- props to the big stores that are making it easier for us to recycle, huh?

Recycle batteries! Often Walgreens has battery recycling stations, where you can just drop off your batteries, and they will recycle them properly! <3

So, the nyc.gov people got back to me about Pringles cans. They said, after careful study (I'm not sure if they were being sarcastic or not, but it made me smile), they determined that the only recyclable part of a Pringles can is the metal bottom, and that, since it comprises such a small part of the can, that it could be thrown away without penalty. I need to find out how hard it is to take those metal bottoms off, since of course for me it's about more than complying with recycling rules.

All right; I emailed the nyc.gov website and asked them about Pringles canisters. We'll see what they say.

Did you try to look it up on your town's recycling/waste removal website? If you can't find the info there, then you can actually call them to ask (that's right - call and talk to an actual person - amazing, isn't it??!!).
