I love doing my part in helping keep a clean environment. I wasn't always like this, but I wasn't against it either. I was turned on to being proactive by my friend Heather. She was ALL about it. She would volunteer her time 2 or 3 times a week to help clean up streets and rivers. It was really an inspiration to see her doing something that was so helpful, yet she also really enjoyed it. I began to join her on Tuesdays (which is when she went to the Catawba River) to help her clean up. People can be so rude and disrespectful. We found all sort of things in the river that shouldn't have been there. Old shoes, sandbags, tires??? Really?? Who throws away old tires in the river? This experience really opened my eyes to see that we all need to be a little more careful with what we consume and how we dispose of it.
